On the second day of Rosh Hashanah, it is customary to visit a body of water and to “cast away” that which no longer serves you as a ritual to help usher in the clean slate of a new year. This is a time of quiet reflection alongside a physical action that invites someone to consider that which you want to leave behind in the last year – to not carry with you into the start of the new year.

We will meet in the parking lot of Union Craft Brewing and walk to the edge of the Jones Falls for a short ritual of tashlich: casting away. For those who wish, we will then share a l’chaim (cheers!) and enjoy some round challah, apples and honey and a beer to celebrate the Jewish new year with friends, old and new.

This Happening is free to attend, and the first beer is on us.

What to expect.
