About the concert: Internationally touring musician and poet (and Towson High alum) Alicia Jo Rabins brings ancient legends of Biblical women to life with her critically-acclaimed musical midrash and storytelling project, Girls in Trouble. Her three albums weave music and poetry into beautiful, haunting melodies; with her violin, loop pedal and guitar, she captivates audiences with songs ranging from orchestral strings to bluegrass-inflected ballads. Come encounter the women of Torah as you’ve never heard them before, then join a conversation between Alicia and Rabbi Jessy.
About Alicia: Alicia Jo Rabins is a writer, musician, composer, performer and Torah teacher. The New York Times calls her voice “gorgeous”; the San Francisco Chronicle calls her writing “a poetry page-turner, both sexy and humble.” Alicia is the creator and performer of Girls in Trouble, an indie-folk song cycle about women in Torah which includes three albums and accompanying study guides, and the award-winning independent feature film, A Kaddish for Bernie Madoff. Rabins is the author of two poetry collections, Divinity School (APR/Honickman First Book Prize) and Fruit Geode (finalist for the Jewish Book Award), as well as a memoir forthcoming from Schocken Books in 2026.
