Call it a two-fer or come for just one part of the evening! 5-6:30 Happy (Hour) Shabbat. Comedy begins at 7!

Every month, we select one Friday evening for our Happy (Hour) Shabbat, when you’re invited to intentionally slow down and separate from the busyness of the weekly demands of productivity. Visit with friends, old and new. Sing a song. Reflect on the week. Have a nosh. Unplug from the demands of doing and reconnect with the power and wisdom of being. And then…

Join us for a night of hilarity and comedy with Liz Glazer, an award-winning standup comedian, actor and writer. It’s the last Shabbat before the presidential election, and just after the High Holy Day season, which means we all could use some good laughs. Even better, laughter in community!

There will be hors d’oeuvres served between 6:15 – 6:45 for those joining us for either or both happenings this evening. There will also be a dessert reception after the performance with the opportunity to chat with Liz over a chocolate top cookie.

Liz began her career as most standup comedians do: as a tenured law professor. After working as a real estate lawyer, she went on to teach law and get tenure from Hofstra University’s Maurice A. Deane School of Law. And then, Liz gave it all up to do comedy, where her material draws from her own life as a lesbian, a rabbi’s wife, and a former lawyer. She recently recorded a set with Don’t Tell Comedy where clips have been seen over a million times, and it hasn’t even been online a week yet (as of the writing of this bio). She is also a recent winner of the Boston Comedy Festival and Ladies of Laughter Contest, and her forthcoming special, recorded at a sold out South Orange Performing Arts Center, comes out soon. Her debut album — recorded at a sold out show at New York Comedy Festival — was #1 on iTunes the week of its release, and stayed at #1 for 6 consecutive days.

What to expect.
