Details

Join us at Third Space for the Heschel Vision Awards, the Jewish United for Justice (JUFJ)’s biggest event of the year. Together, we’ll honor leaders who embody our shared vision for justice, celebrate ten years of organizing in Baltimore, and reflect on victories across DC, Montgomery County, and Maryland.

This year, the JUFJ is proud to recognize Michelle Engelmann for her leadership in the DC economic justice campaign for early childhood educators, Laura Menyuk for her work in Baltimore building a connected community of activism, and the Public Justice Center for their partnership advancing justice throughout Maryland.

A Legacy of Action and Advocacy
In 1998, inspired by Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel’s teachings, a group of activists and organizers founded JUFJ to bring the prophetic call for justice into our communities. Rabbi Heschel’s belief in social action as a form of worship has guided our work, rooted in interfaith coalitions and a commitment to uplifting the most vulnerable.

“For many of us, the march from Selma to Montgomery was both protest and prayer…Even without words, our march was worship. I felt my legs were praying.”
— Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel, 1965

Celebrate with us as we honor these leaders, remember our shared history, and renew our commitment to creating a more just world. Learn more about the event here.
